34岁的早川基子（小林聡美饰）在一家信用金库工作，她和好友兼同事马场万里子（小泉今日子饰）是单位里同期进去的员工里唯二没有结婚的，没有爱情，在家里被母亲（白石加代子饰）当做孩童般管束；工作也是一日一日的简单重复，基子对这样的人生感到迷茫。
